💥 TOP 15 ALBUMS OF 2023: I’ve added 3 songs from each album to Music Club Beats Playlist (listen here) to give you a sneak preview of each album.
Alison Goldfrapp - The Love Invention
Nu-disco debut album by British singer of electropop duo Goldfrapp
Aluna - MYCELium
1/2 of duo AlunaGeorge; this dance album is full of special guests
Circa Waves - Never Going Under
English indie rock band for fans of The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys
Girl Ray - Prestige
3 piece indie London girl band; this disco-pop album was inspired by the soundtrack of FX’s show Pose
Joshua Idehen - Learn to Swim, A Mixtape
Uplifting album from British-Nigerian singer & poet who blends spoken-word with dance and gospel sounds (a la Fred Again)
Jungle - Volcano
Known for their 70s gospel disco-tronica sound, anything from British alt / dance band is pretty much guaranteed to be catchy
Kylie Minogue - Tension
The 16th (wow) album from Australian pop icon does not disappoint
Miley Cyrus - Endless Summer Vacation
This is my 1st Miley album so can’t speak to how it compares to her previous 8 but reflects more of a pop than rock sound for her and is her most acclaimed album to date
Nation of Language - Strange Disciple
Came to really love this synth-pop trio thanks to KCRW
Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS
Tbh was not expecting to like this as much as I did; Pitchfork described is perfectly - as a “collection of bratty rocker-chick anthems and soul-searching ballads that could slot into the soundtrack of any classic high school flick”
Sofia Kourtesis - Madres
Probably one of my favorites of this year comes from Peruvian DJ and producer known for her stellar remixes; released on Ninja Tune so if you’re a fan of any of their artists give this a listen
The Arcs - Electrophonic Chronic
Side project of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys; if you’re into that sound, you’ll also be a fan
The Chemical Brothers - For That Beautiful Feeling
One of my favorite groups that creates many beautiful feelings when listening to them; got to see them at Coachella this year which was epic
The Revivalists - Pour It Out Into The Night
Watched this rock band perform at Lollapalooza (on Hulu) and really enjoyed it
Will Butler + Sister Squares - Will Butler + Sister Squares
This is the first album of Will Butler, former member of Arcade Fire plus backing band featuring his wife
✨ HA Mix - NYE Jam Warm-Up
Upbeat mix that will get you in the countdown spirit!
This mix has been added to the Human Algorithm Mix playlist as well (updated here).
